Electrolysis Treatment

Before starting treatment, your therapist will make sure all of your questions have been answered so that you feel completely relaxed and know what to expect. Just like a spa treatment, you will lie down on a comfortable therapy bed for the duration of the electrolysis in an environment that will make you feel at ease.

Electrolysis is clinical and sterile treatment and Elite Electrolysis adheres to the highest hygiene practices. Your therapist will wear surgical gloves and use brand new sterile probes for each treatment. A bright light is used to allow your therapist to precisely target the problem hairs.

Electrolysis works by inserting a very fine probe into the hair follicle alongside the hair. You will not feel the probe going in and no pain will be experienced. Once the probe is inserted, a mild electrical current is applied to create heat. The heat eliminates moisture, living cells and the blood supply at the root of the hair, which destroys it and allows it to be carefully removed with tweezers.

Some clients experience a brief, uncomfortable sensation when the heat is applied. Your therapist can adjust your treatment to minimise any discomfort as much as possible.

For electrolysis to have a long term effect on hair growth, a series of treatments must be taken. Each time a hair is treated, it is weakened so that eventually it stops growing and never returns. The time it takes for the hair to stop growing differs by individual and is dependent on many factors including where the hair is in its growth cycle and how the hair has been removed in the past by waxing, plucking or shaving.

Post-Treatment Skin Soothing

The electrolysis treatment is immediately followed by cataphoresis, an electrical treatment that soothes, disinfects and restores the pH level of the treated area. It is particularly suitable to calm reactive and hypersensitive skins after electrolysis treatment. Cataphoresis is followed by the application of an antiseptic cream to further minimise the risk of infection.

Your therapist will recommend a course of aftercare, along with suggestions of appropriate skin care products to take the best possible care of your skin.
